Kampung Banda Dalam is one of the oldest villages in Kuala Lumpur. It was inhabited since 1860 by Minangkabau from Sumatra, Indonesia during the occupation of Dutch East Indies. Banda carries the meaning of Bonda in Malay, which literally means Mother; Minangkabau is matrilineal ethnicity.
